CHAPEL HILL ART THERAPY

ART THERAPY MAY BE YOUR ANSWER
Are you interested in exploring your feelings?
Do you want to reconcile emotional conflicts?
Are you suffering from anxiety or depression?
Have you experienced emotional trauma?
Are you suffering from addictions?
Art therapy is a creative way to explore issues and mental blocks that you may not be aware of, that limit your ability to fully enjoy life and live up to your potential.
You do not need artistic ability to benefit from art therapy, only openness to the therapeutic process. Art therapy typically involves art making and time for discussing issues that emerge during the creative process. We look at these issues to see how they influence current feelings and behaviors and work on resolving them.
TRAUMA THERAPY
Sometimes feelings and behaviors, including self-esteem and one’s sense of self-efficacy, are restricted by major or minor traumatic experiences. In that case, to supplement art therapy, I often recommend EMDR therapy, in which I have been trained. EMDR therapy is a highly effective and short-term trauma therapy and is recognized as an effective form of trauma treatment in numerous practice guidelines worldwide.
